OPERA MIRAGE AT ST PAUL'S CLUB SATURDAY 3RD DECEMBER 2016
Sat 3 December 2016, 18:00 – 23:00 GMT
The 9th of July 2016 St Paul's Club saw the first evening of Opera music by Opera Mirage with the voices of Magdalena Ardelli, mezzo -soprano, Richard Lloyd Owen, tenor, and Bernard Tyn pianist, who performed in front of forty-eight members and guests.
There was an element of trepidation in that the Club had never hosted such an event before. It was a beautiful summer evening, and with the windows wide open, the beautiful music spilled out into St Paul’s square below, and for a moment you could have thought that you were in Italy.
Opera Mirage Performance held at St Paul’s Club
Our audience, dressed for the occasion, were met with Prosecco prior to be called in for supper, which comprised of an Italian menu, with ciabatta, olives, and dipping oil; antipasto, lasagne and salad, panna cotta; dolcellato and grapes; plus wine, coffee, and liqueurs. The table was set with silver service, candelabras, and a magnificent floral display. The kitchen team were called out and thanked by The President for such a superb meal.
The programme included a variety of favourites from Verdi, to Sidney Berstein, and Andrew Lloyd Webber, which our members and guests found both appealing and very enjoyable. Indeed, there was something for everybody. Each piece of music was described by Richard Lloyd Owen and included a few amusing anecdotes about the composers.
Opera Mirage performed three sets of a 15 piece programme between courses, and our audience was kept spell bound as Opera Mirage sang to them, which made for a very special experience in our delightful dinning room.
The finale was met with a standing ovation, and a promise from Opera Mirage that they will return to perform again at St Paul’s Club. All in all, a really great even of music and good food, with members asking for more evenings like this.
Opera Mirage are due to perform a Christmas Concert at St Paul’s Club on Saturday 3rd December 2016 so book you place now as we expect another sold out performance.
