Opera Nova presents Franz Lehar's The Merry Widow

The Merry Widow, a sparkling romantic comedy is sure to put a smile on your face. Franz Léhar’s bubbly and beautiful music paints the glamour of Parisian society at the turn of the 20th century with glorious waltzes, gallops, can-cans, beautiful folk tunes and more. Particular highlights include Hanna’s song ‘Vilia’, the wonderful romantic duets between Valencienne and Camille, Danilo’s ‘You’ll find me at Maxim’s’ and the sweeping Merry Widow waltz.

About Opera Nova

Based in the Teesside area, Opera Nova is an amateur opera group founded in the late 1960s. We have a proud tradition of singing and staging opera and are known for our professional standard of performance. Our main aim is to make opera appealing to local audiences and singers. Every opera has a story to tell and the marvellous music adds excitement to the events that unfold on stage. We invite all our friends and supporters to come along to our 2024 production of The Merry Widow to enjoy a sparkling and romantic evening at the opera.
