Event description

Description

LEAN thinking is well developed in public and commercial sector organisations and is an accepted way of organising work to increase efficiency, reduce costs and improve customer satisfaction through simplification and standardisation. It focuses on creating value and capacity.

This MasterClass provides an overview to the principles and techniques associated with improving efficiency through LEAN thinking.

To illustrate how this might be applied in their organisations, delegates will explore a model comprising the ‘7 Wastes of LEAN’, the ‘6 Process Truths’, ‘5 LEAN principles’, ‘4 LEAN laws’ and ‘3 rules for organisational redesign’.

The importance of the customer’s viewpoint will be emphasised and examples provided to work with and discuss.

Delegates will be introduced to the techniques of, Kanban, Kaizen and Agile to demonstrate LEAN thinking in different environments including software development.

Session Content

The Masterclass will look at:

  • Learn the concepts of LEAN and why it is used
  • Recognise why organisations are thought of as a “system”
  • Learn the importance of understanding Demand
  • Define and recognise “waste”
  • Acknowledge the importance of the customer

This MasterClass is one of a series of three which provide a full description for improving Operational Efficiency using LEAN.

Delivered using our own, proven, mixture of theory and models from practical examples using a mixture of PowerPoint, flip chart and discussion plus breakouts for delegates to discuss problems.

We explore delegates’ requirements and experience and tailor discussion to ensure they achieve their objectives.

Examples of “LEAN in practice” are given and delegates will be encouraged to find these in their organisations in between the MasterClasses.
