We are delighted to welcome three new ophthalmology clinicians to our team! Come and meet them at our veterinary ophthalmology CPD special, featuring three twenty-minute presentations, each designed to provide practical insights for you, our referring community working in general practice.
🔹 Angelie Shukla, BSc, DVM, MSc, DipECVO (EBVS® European Specialist in Veterinary Ophthalmology) Topic: Non-Healing Ulcers – To Debride or Not to Debride?
Corneal ulcers are common presentations, but when they fail to heal, decision-making becomes tricky. Angelie will guide us through the diagnostic approach to non-healing ulcers, when debridement is indicated (and when it isn’t), and how to tailor treatment plans to optimise healing and comfort.
🔹 Eva Vlachomitrou, DVM MRCVS GPCertOphthal MVetMed (Residency-trained Ophthalmologist) Topic: Diabetic Cataracts – When is the Best Time to Refer?
Eva will discuss the development of cataracts in diabetic patients, including how to identify early changes, the potential complications that may arise, and when to refer for assessment.
🔹 Lizzie Stevens, MA VetMB PGCertSAOphthal MRCVS (Residency-trained Ophthalmologist) Topic: Enucleation Surgery in Dogs and Cats – Practical Tips
Enucleation is sometimes the best option for patients with painful or non-visual eyes, but the procedure can present challenges. Lizzie will share step-by-step tips on surgical technique, common pitfalls to avoid, and post-operative care considerations.
Join us at the Marlow Rugby Club on Monday, the 27th of October. We will be serving a hot plant-based meal and soft drinks at 7 pm, and the event will start at 7.30 pm.
