No matter how much or how little experience you have as a writer, this fun evening class with Guardian columnist Suzanne Moore and head of opinion Katherine Butler will help you present a strong opinion with confidence. 

Over the course of the evening, they will offer advice on everything from structuring a column to pitching story ideas to editors, along with tips on how to make your writing stand out from the crowd. 

You’ll also have a chance to soak up insights from special guest speaker and the Guardian’s associate opinion editor Hugh Muir.

Tutor profiles 

Suzanne Moore is an award-winning columnist for the Guardian. She has also written for the Mail on Sunday and the Independent, and previously worked as culture editor of Marxism Today and contributing editor of New Statesman. She tweets @suzanne_moore.

Katherine Butler is head of opinion at the Guardian. Before joining the Guardian in 2013, she was comment editor and foreign editor at the Independent and the paper’s Europe correspondent, based in Brussels. She tweets @ButlerKatherine.

Guest speaker

Hugh Muir is a Guardian opinion editor, leader writer and columnist. He also writes extensively about social policy, politics, policing, diversity and London government. He tweets @hugh_muir
