About this event

  • 2 hours

The Our Planet Our Future Book Club is going to meet in pubs in Harpenden on Thursday evenings five times a year, from 7.30-9.30pm. The group has chosen books which we are very much looking forward to reading and discussing at the next three meetings:

15 Feb 2024: Rob Hopkins: From What is to what if. Unleashing the power of imagination to create the future we want.

18 Apr 2024: Simon Sharpe: Five times faster. Rethinking the science, economics, and diplomacy of climate change.

20 Jun 2024: George Monbiot: Regenesis. Feeding the world without devouring the planet

Please try to read the book before the meeting.

We will discuss the books and the ideas that the book inspires us.

We encourage members to obtain books from the library (or borrow box), charity shops, or second-hand bookshops.

To join the group please email ourplanet@sustainablestalbans.org. We will also promote the dates via the Sustainable St Albans newsletter and the Our Planet Our Future page and Events Pages on the website.

Our Planet Our Future events

This bookclub is a spin off from Our Planet Our Future, our landmark series of events, talks and workshops at the Plough & Harrow, free to join with a regularly changing programme of lively and informed discussion on the latest eco-issues. Details about this programme can be found here. Each session will consider a different theme of sustainability, action and preparation for the climate future. Details of our past events cen be found at sustainablestalbans.org/our-planet-our-future-past-events/

We are Sustainable St Albans charity. Together, as ordinary people, we find positive and creative ways to act locally – across St Albans, Harpenden and villages – to raise awareness and address the challenges of climate change, live more sustainably, and move towards a low-carbon economy.
