Event description

Description

When you are a teenager, it can be hard to know what you want to do with the rest of your life. Indeed, making any decision that affects your future is understandably difficult. Parents can struggle too, as they try and guide their child on which route to take. Some parents have simply no idea what is best, little understanding of the nature of the exam system or the educational landscape beyond secondary school. Others may not want to interfere. We know from a YouGov survey (2013) that many young people are making decisions about their futures based on what they have seen on television or because of what certain celebrities say. This is really worrying and what inspired me to create this talk.

Topics covered will be:

  • How to recognise your strengths and use them to your advantage

  • Developing early strategies that will help set the foundation for a happy, successful life

  • Organising and planning appropriately for academic success

  • Being resilient to life's challenges

  • Barriers to success and how to avoid them

This talk is for any parent and teen (recommended age 14+)
