Optimising Ruminant Nutrition:

This session will delve into the science behind feeding strategies for cattle, sheep, and other ruminants, focusing on how nutrition impacts health, productivity, and environmental sustainability.
Led by expert Olivia Ward, (George F White) MSc in Ruminant Nutrition, the talk will cover:
- The digestive physiology of ruminants and its implications for feed formulation
- Balancing energy, protein, and fibre for optimal performance
- Importance of forage management
- Nutritional challenges in different production systems (dairy, beef, sheep)
- How diet and nutrition can impact pollution to air and water whilst improving welfare and savings costs
