As we draw toward the close of the festival, we invite you to enjoy Camille Saint-Saëns’ Carnival of the Animals—a witty and imaginative suite brought to life by a joyful mix of our festival participants.
Prepared in just one day, this performance will be the result of spirited ensemble coordination and the enthusiasm of young musicians who, in many cases, met for the first time this week. From the deep roar of the lion to the fluttering aviary and the elegant swan, each movement offers both musical charm and a glimpse of the humour and camaraderie shared among performers.
The work showcases an array of small ensemble combinations, allowing each performer a moment to shine while celebrating the collective effort of music-making. It is also a tribute to the friendships, flexibility, and trust that chamber music inspires: values at the heart of our festival.
Light-hearted, inventive, and full of character, this Carnival is our shared celebration: of playfulness, connection, and the joy of performing together.
We hope it brings a smile before we move on to the final Prize Ceremony and Reception, where Gold, Silver, and Bronze awards will be presented across four pianist categories: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced and Diploma. A special First Prize will also be awarded, sponsored by Richard Lawson.
