To celebrate our 50th Anniversary oral history project, made up of interviews of founders and former staff, Leeds Trinity invites members of the community to join us for an Oral History Campus Tour.
The 45-minute walking tour, led by Dr Helen Kingstone who led the interviewing project, will showcase areas of the campus from the 1960s through to the present day. Guests will visit original buildings from 1966 including the Chapel, St. Bede Centre and accommodation blocks, as well as newer teaching rooms and sports facilities.
Dr Kingstone will recount anecdotes from interviews with Winefred Kean, widow of founding Principal Andrew Kean, Dr Mary Hallway, the first Principal of both unified colleges, and former staff including Dan Baldasera, Joyce Simpson, Mark Seaward and more. She will also share stories from Leeds Trinity’s early years including the 1967 campus flood, landscaping the campus and the institution’s Catholic faith foundation.
The tour will finish in The Lounge Bar on campus for refreshments, and a chance to listen to audio clips from the interviews in the company of key partners and friends of the University.
