Cobalt, L.A.D’s collective and the Oram Awards are excited to bring you a workshop on DJing and experimental electronic music. Join us for an afternoon of exploring DJing from the very basics to creative looping, and a hands-on introduction to live electronic music from special guest Frankie Archer.

In this workshop, Frankie invites you to explore her live electronic set-up and have a go at using an analogue, semi-modular synth, a sampler/sequencer with audio and MIDI, guitar pedals, and creating a track from scratch using a hardware-only setup. It’s a rare chance to play and experiment with analogue gear in a supportive environment, and to learn from the very best!

Experience is not a requirement – this opportunity is open to all women, non-binary, gender expansive & LGBTQIA+ folks who love electronic music and would like to learn, improvise, meet like-minded people and make some noise! Please note the workshop is for ages 18+.

There will be a social afterwards at Ernest.

Double ticket available to include Oram/100 Presents: Beatrice Dillon + Shelly Knots the same evening.

Frankie Archer’s imaginative and bold mash of electro alt-trad shows her Northumbrian fiddle roots, her deep love of electronic music and her immersion in soulful folk songs from the North East of England and around the world. Mark Radcliffe (BBC Radio 2) described her music as “fascinating and Intoxicating”.

Her unique, fresh sound has pricked up the ears of fans and press, being featured in The Guardian, Bandcamp Best Of, Amazing Radio Tips for 2024, earning wonderful reviews from Clash Magazine, Tradfolk and Fresh on the Net, and being chosen by Fatea for their Showcase Session.
