Malcolm Proud, organist at St. Canice’s Cathedral Kilkenny, has performed in concert on many of Europe’s and America’s historic organs.  His cd of Bach’s Clavierübung III, recorded on the Metzler at Stein am Rhein in Switzerland, was released in 2008 on Maya Recordings.

He won first prize at the Edinburgh International Harpsichord Competition in 1982 after a year of study with Gustav Leonhardt. In 2010 he played all six Brandenburg Concertos with Sir John Elliot Gardiner’s English Baroque Soloists at the London Proms and the Schleswig-Holstein Festival and is now harpsichordist with the Irish Baroque Orchestra and performs regularly with Chamber Choir Ireland and Sestina.  He has worked with Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, Academy of Ancient Music, European Union Baroque Orchestra and Akademie für alte Musik Berlin, and he has toured Japan in a production of Monteverdi’s Orfeo with Mark Padmore in the lead rôle.

His ensemble Camerata Kilkenny has performed in Switzerland, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany and Finland and recorded several cds, most recently of Bach arias and Swedish folk hymns with soprano Maria Keohane for Maya Recordings. In November 2018 he curated a series of concerts at the National Concert Hall in Dublin to mark the 350th anniversary of François Couperin’s birth and in March 2020 he will curate a Bach series also at the NCH.
