Description

Come to the fifth ever ORGCon and let the digital fightback begin!

Join Open Rights Group and get a FREE ticket to ORGCon 2017

In the last year, the UK has passed laws that allow the extensive surveillance of our online activity, and that could see the nation's porn habits recorded. Google, Facebook, Amazon and other major corporations continue to come up with new ways to get hold of our data and make money out of it. Extremists are using the Internet to spread propaganda and fake news, and online abuse has pervaded our political discourse.

ORGCon 2017 will bring together expert writers, lawyers, academics and technologists to discuss these threats and how we can fight back against those who want to undermine our human rights. Confirmed speakers include: Jamie Bartlett, Pandora Blake, Nighat Dad, Myles Jackman, Helen Lewis, Graham Lineham, Nanjira Sambuli, Noel Sharkey, and Audrey Tang.

Topics up for discussion include killer robots, dystopian surveillance trends and how radical groups are using the Internet. How are the rights of people of colour, women, and other marginalised groups being disproportionately affected? But we'll also be looking at how the Internet has changed politics and campaigning, giving ordinary citizens a voice, and helping to hold the powerful to account. Join us, and let the fightback begin!
