Do I need to be able to run?

Absolutely not - orienteering can be done at your own pace

Do I need any special equipment?

Just comfy clothing for being active outdoors and footwear that you would wear for a county walk/jog. You may bring a compass if you have one but these can be borrowed. Bring glasses if you need them to read a map. It may be getting chilly in October so layers are a good idea.

Discover the thrill of orienteering

Join our one day beginner workshop led by our experienced coaches and gain the skills and confidence to navigate with a map.

This fun day teaches you the basics of orienteering including:

Understanding an orienteering map
Using a compass
Techniques to navigate a course on a map

By the end of this day you will have the skills and confidence to take part in an orienteering event. There are 2 active clubs in the Aberdeen area so plenty to choose from. No prior knowledge required – just a sense of adventure. All physical activity at whatever level you choose.
