Starting at Altnacealgach Motel on Thurs, 31st July from 10am until 4pm.

Join Highlife Highland Countryside Ranger, Andy Summers, for an enlightening expedition around the stunning Altnacealgach. This isn't your average stroll – it's a hands-on journey into the world of orienteering and map reading.

Imagine being able to explore the moorlands with assurance, knowing you can find your way no matter what. Ranger Andy will equip you with essential skills that go beyond just reading a map; you'll learn how to make informed decisions in the wild using compasses and reading the landscape. These skills aren't just for fun – they could be lifesavers if you ever find yourself off the beaten path.

Whether you're a complete beginner or looking to brush up on your navigation skills, this course offers practical knowledge and real-world experience. Get ready to unlock your inner explorer and gain the confidence to tackle any outdoor adventure!

Apologies, but no dogs will be allowed on this hike.

Adults only (18 years upwards)

You will need:

A good level of fitness as you will be walking for most of the day up and down hills
Transport to location*
Food & drink for the day
Suitable clothing and footwear
Walking sticks (if needed/preferred)
An OS map and/or compass if you have it; if not, these will be provided

* Transport from Lairg may be provided if there is enough interest in this. Please tick the box on the order form if you would like us to provide a bus to and from Lairg to the location. The journey is around 45mins each way.

If you cannot afford to pay the full price and live in Sutherland, please contact us for information on a reduced ticket.
