Origins Festival: Grupo Sotz'il
Grupo Sotz'il (Guatemala) in
Outdoor Mayan theatre for midsummer, Oxlajuj B’aqtun is brought to Origins from the beautiful and troubled country of Guatemala. The play’s title refers to the Mayan calendar, which shifted at the winter solstice of 2012 into a new era. Embodying mythology and animal totems, the performance moves between the worlds of the living and the dead, the human and the spirit. Masks, dance and traditional music combine to transport the audience to another world.
Celebrate a Meso-American Summer Solstice with the spectacular Voladores ceremony and a mystic drama like no other! There will be food available, and other performances around the main events. Be sure to reserve your space for this unique open-air performance.
In association with the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea's InTRANSIT Festival.
