This film was selected for screening to celebrate the pioneering work of Virginia Woolf who features as one of over 50 women pioneers in the Rights for Women: London’s Pioneers in their Own Words exhibition.
Film synopsis:
Orlando is a 1992 British film loosely based on Virginia Woolf's 1928 novel Orlando: A Biography, starring Tilda Swinton as Orlando, Billy Zane as Marmaduke Bonthrop Shelmerdine, and Quentin Crisp as Queen Elizabeth I. It was written and directed by London-born Director Sally Potter, who also co-wrote the music for the film (with David Motion).
