Event description

Description

You are invited to the ORSC UK Community Autumn Deep Democracy Event

Attendees will choose the topic of the conversation on that evening. We expect it will be something that is hot and relevant in that moment.

Participating in a Deep Democracy Process (DDP) is a great way to understand more about how it works and how powerful it is. You can see what’s possible when a conversation is held by the facilitators, where emotions and controversy are allowed, various truths are invited out, spoken and really heard by others. You allow yourself to step into others’ shoes and see the world from different viewpoints. The DDP calls us to feel passionately and empathically, to expand our knowledge and understanding about a hot or complex topic and to think in new ways. Then we can make some different choices about how to move forward together.

The DDP is often seen as a difficult process to facilitate and is often left unused in the practitioner’s toolbox. It is a bit complex as there are many levels of things happening all at once and it can be quite surprising, emotional and chaotic. But the more you participate in them, the easier it is to see the simplicity of the process, which of course will help you use it more often.

Your engagement in this process will help you befriend the DD tool and broaden your understanding of ORSC in general, as the DD tool pretty much contains and builds on all aspects of ORSC. And, of course, it will help you gain a better understanding of whatever topic is selected for the evening and appreciation for people involved with that topic.

This conversation will be facilitated by members of the DD Special Interest Group (DD SIG). The DD SIG is a group of trained ORSC practitioners who wish to deepen their learning about facilitating the Deep Democracy Process (taught in the” Intelligence” course and revisited in “Systems Integration” and Certification).

Co-leaders: Carole Adams and Lori Shook.
