OSC: Idea Creation for Artists, with Sharon James
Saturday 27th September, 10am-12.30pm at TOSH | £5 ticket donation
A sketchbook can be used for more than just drawings. It’s can be a space for possibilities, inspiration, and idea generation.
In this workshop led by artist Sharon James, we’ll explore the sketchbook as a creative laboratory, using mark-making, collage, writing, and images. Together, through playful exercises, we'll spark ideas, capture fleeting thoughts, and discover a personal resource to inspire future creative projects.
Drawing, painting, mark-making, and visual journaling all play a key role in Sharon’s practice. Watch ‘Blackground’ below to learn more about Sharon’s work, and to understand her approach towards idea creation.
About Sharon James
Sharon is a multidisciplinary artist. Currently her main focus is painting. Her work also includes printmaking, drawing and digital collage. She visually investigates her experiences as a black, gay mother of three. Documenting the ‘white noise’ of motherhood. The things that we see so often, that we forget to marvel in their extraordinariness. Her work also explores her cultural heritage, queer identity and current events.
