Thu, 13 Apr 2017, 10:00 – Fri, 14 Apr 2017, 16:00 BST
All overseas applicants need to pass a computer-based test and comply with all other initial requirements of the NMC overseas nursing process to be eligible to sit the OSCE and complete their registration. An individual entering the UK to take a nursing role can be legally employed as a pre-registration candidate for a period of up to three months before they sit the OSCE.
On average, currently only 49% of candidates sitting their OSCE exam for NMC registration pass first time.
Most take 2 or even 3 attempts before they achieve success. View the stats here.
The OSCE test is the second part of a two part competence test which sits at the heart of the new NMC registration system. You will already have sat and passed your Part 1: Computer Based Test (CBT) of theoretical practice based knowledge. Part 2 is the nursing or midwifery Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) . The OSCE can only be sat after successfully passing Part 1 and only the NMC can authorise a candidate to take Part 2 after successfully passing the assessment stage. You should be booking our 3-Day course at the same time to ensure you pass the OSCE on your first attempt.
The OSCE will simulate a clinical environment and “patient” scenarios which Registered Nurses and Midwives are likely to encounter when they assess, plan, implement and evaluate care. Candidates are expected to utilise a contemporary evidence base and effectively demonstrate safe practical application of nursing and midwifery skills.
In order to be eligible for Part 2 (OSCE) candidates must have passed Part 1 and have submitted their documents to the NMC. The NMC are responsible for authorising all candidates. It is currently administered by the University of Northampton, the independent test provider of NMC.
As innovators in the nursing recruitment market, Ealoor Consultancy UK Ltd is pleased to be the first to offer a full 3-Day course and mock test to get you through your OSCE examination on the first attempt.
