About this event
BOOKING CLOSES AT 6PM ON THURSDAY 6TH MAY.
After the success of ReadThrough's live digital Macbeth and Romeo & Juliet we are delighted to present William Shakespeare's Othello. The performance will be around 2 hours with a short Q&A after.
Please note: Eventbrite only allows you to select 100 tickets at a time, if you have more than 100 students joining us simply select 100 - your booking is secured for as many students as you need it for regardless of the number tickets selected
Please take the time to review the information below as any questions you have may well be answered here!
Who can book?
Please note that this ReadThrough is for students and teachers only.
IMPORTANT: You can only book seats for this event as a staff member with an official school email address. This is to comply with our safeguarding policy and also a combination of performance rights and funding stipulations that we need to adhere to in order to make these ReadThroughs a reality.
If you are a parent and you would like your child to attend this ReadThrough please contact their school and ask them to book on to the event. Hopefully they will encourage other students to join as well!
If you are a permanent home schooler (i.e. not just because of Covid) please email seatsplease@wearereadthrough.com with a GCSE entry paper etc or some educational proof and your booking request.
How do we submit Questions for the Q&A?
We would be delighted if any teachers or students have questions they would like to submit for the Q&A. Once you have booked your tickets here please submit these to seatsplease@wearereadthrough.com
How many students can I book for?
There is no minimum or maximum number of students you can reserve a seat for. Eventbrite only allows bookings of up to 100, so if you will have more than 100 students joining us, just put 100. This number is purely an indication for us to know how many people to expect.
How will we access the live ReadThrough?
We will send a private YouTube link to the educator who requested the tickets on the morning of the 7th May 2021 for them to send to their students. Our safeguarding policy does not allow us to distribute them to your students on your behalf. Please do not share the link on any social media or public platforms.
How much does it cost?
It is completely free to attend. We suggest that if your school can afford it you make a donation of £10 for any number of students up to 100 and a further £10 per 100 further students – we are run at cost and any donations will go directly towards making future big ReadThroughs possible.
Do you record the event and can we watch it at a later date?
We do not record these ReadThroughs, this is because our performers have given up their time to help students and we do not have the permissions in place for recordings to be made. We also hope that this policy makes it more exciting to watch! If you miss a performance or can't make the date do let us know and if there is sufficient demand we will endeavour to present a future ReadThrough of the same text.
What will the ReadThrough be like and will it be suitable for my students?
We believe that Shakespeare was written to be performed live and that every student will benefit from seeing it brought to life. This is an abridged performance but we aim to leave as many of the important themes, plot points and characters in as possible.
The ReadThrough and Q&A after will be aimed at GCSE age students and above, in terms of suitability we suggest that you bear this in mind.
There will be no costumes, set or props within the performance.
