Explore the Silver City’s stories through our collections of art, social and maritime history in these informal dementia-friendly get-togethers for adults. Free, booking required - select the date you prefer.

Mondays, 2-3.30pm

Monday 28 May
Hands-on history: Aberdeen Greats
Discover some famous sons and daughters of the Granite City through objects associated with them, including a Bill Gibb drawing, a Donald Dinnie medal, John Brown’s hip flask and an Annie Lennox LP.

Historical hazards
Curator Morna Annandale reveals the sometimes surprising hidden dangers in museum collections.

Monday 11 June
Hands-on history: Maker’s Mark
The story of industry and craft in Aberdeen as told through objects including a sample of grass used in the paper making industry, a Lundie violin and shoemaker’s last.

Monday 18 June
Exhibition tour: View From the Deck
Join us for an informal tour of our current exhibition and explore the art of Sue Jane Taylor, whose work documents and interprets Scotland’s offshore oil industry.

Hands-on history: Sickness and Health
Get up close to real museum objects and discover how they help tell the history of our city. This eclectic Treasure Box features a Victorian mourning brooch, an ear trumpet and a prosthetic hand.

Monday 2 July
Hands-on history: Walking the Mat
Hold real museum objects and share your own stories of stepping out in the Silver City. Objects include opera glasses, a Harlem Globetrotters tour programme and satin dancing shoes.
