Our Arts in the North: Copyright, the Arts & Cultural Regeneration in the N...
Date and time
Description
‘Our Arts in the North’ is a one-day inter-disciplinary conference generously funded by the Socio-Legal Studies Association Seminar Competition.
The conference will examine the role that copyright laws might play in fostering the arts and cultural regeneration in the North of England. It is scheduled to run as a part of The Great Exhibition of the North, a high-profile festival with international reach to be held in Newcastle-Gateshead in the summer of 2018.
This inter-disciplinary conference will bring together academics working in a variety of complementary fields, including intellectual property law, the arts and cultural regeneration. ‘Our Arts in the North’ examines the arts and cultural regeneration in the North of England, particularly the role that copyright laws may play in fostering (or indeed hindering) it. The conference will bring together internationally-renowned copyright law academics and leading scholars from alternative disciplines who focus on the wider aspects of culture and the North. The conference will afford invaluable opportunities to raise questions and discuss issues and insights that emerge.
