About this event
About the Project:
“Our Cultures, Our Stories” is a creative, community-led project celebrating the
identities and shared experiences of Central and Eastern European women and
families living in Redditch.
Led by Centrala and Reimagine Redditch, and funded by Arts Council England,
this 6-part workshop series will run monthly from September 2025 to February
2026, ending with a public presentation of our creative outcomes in both
Redditch and at Centrala in Birmingham in February 2026.
Workshop 1: Exploring Identity Through Art
This is the first of six welcoming, creative workshops designed especially for women
and families from Central and Eastern Europe.
We’ll begin by exploring who we are right now through simple drawing, collage, and
conversation. Together, we’ll reflect on our personal journeys, everyday lives, and
what makes us unique – while also celebrating our shared roots and cultural
heritage.
No artistic experience needed – just curiosity and a willingness to connect.
 What to Expect:
Hands-on creative activity: collages or drawings about identity
Relaxed discussion on belonging, home, and heritage
Opportunity to bring and share a personal object, photo, or memory
(optional)
Light refreshments provided
A friendly, supportive environment
Please wear comfortable clothes – all materials are provided.
 Artist Facilitator: Maggie Stick
Maggie Stick is visual artist, facilitator, and zine-maker with a passion for inclusive,
community-led creativity. Her work focuses on storytelling, identity, and collective
expression, often using accessible materials such as collage, drawing, and
printmaking to invite participants of all backgrounds to explore their experiences
through art.
With over a decade of experience working in community settings, Maggie creates
spaces where people feel safe, seen, and supported. Her workshops are designed to
be welcoming and non-judgmental, encouraging creativity as a tool for reflection,
connection, and empowerment.
In February 2025, Maggie collaborated with Centrala and Reimagine Redditch to
deliver a powerful zine-making session with local women, where participants
explored personal stories, cultural heritage, and shared values through handmade
booklets. The session was deeply impactful, sparking honest conversation, laughter,
and new connections.
We’re thrilled to welcome Maggie back to lead the first session of the "Our Cultures,
Our Stories" project, where her thoughtful and creative approach will once again
guide us in exploring identity, home, and belonging.
 Why Join?
Meet other women and families with similar life experiences
Connect with others who understand the challenges and joys of building a life in a
new place. Share your journey and hear from others in a warm, supportive
environment where you’re not alone.
Explore your personal story through creativity
Through hands-on, gentle art-making activities, you’ll have the chance to reflect on
your life, values, and memories in a way that feels expressive and freeing—no
previous art experience needed!
Celebrate your cultural identity in a safe, welcoming space
This is a space where your background and heritage are not only respected but
celebrated. You’ll be encouraged to share what makes your culture special while
learning about the traditions and stories of others.
♀️ Take time for yourself, reflect, and connect
In the busyness of everyday life, it’s easy to lose touch with your own needs. This
workshop gives you space to pause, breathe, and reconnect—with yourself, your
roots, and a community of others on similar paths.
 Be part of something bigger
Your contributions during the workshop series will feed into a beautiful shared
creative outcome to be showcased in February 2026 in both Redditch and at
Centrala, Birmingham, celebrating the voices and experiences of women in our
community.
This workshop is free, but spaces are limited to 15 women – book now to avoid
missing out.
We cant wait to create with you!
