Event description
Join us as we explore how best to support young people’s interest in the past as they become the heritage caretakers of the future.

About this Event

This one-day conference at the AK Bell Library in Perth will bring together a range of speakers to share their experiences working on different heritage engagement projects across Scotland. We will reflect upon activities undertaken during the Year of Young People (2018) and explore how best to support young people’s interest in the past as they become the heritage caretakers of the future.

The keynote address will be given by Dr Jeff Sanders who has delivered high-profile projects for the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland, including the successful Dig It! engagement programme since 2015. Other speakers include Khaleda Noon (Action for Children's Heritage & Inclusion programme), Fiona Watson (Scotland's Urban Past), Amy Calder, (YouthLink Scotland, YoungWummin project), David Maclehose (Perth Civic Trust), and Graham Ross (Austin Smith:Lord).

Timetable:

Registration opens at 9.30 am and talks begin at 10.00 am. Lunch and refreshments are included. The conference will conclude with a reception from 3.45 - 4.45 pm.

A full programme will be available soon.

Accessibility:

The AK Bell Library is wheelchair accessible. There is disabled parking at two pay-and-display car parks at either side of the library. There is an induction loop. If you have additional access requirements or need more information, please contact the organisers.
