Our place in the world post Brexit with a celebration of European Culture
Event Information
About this Event
What will our connection with Europe and the world look like after Brexit?
Although these are sad times for those of us who still know ourselves to be proud Europeans, we can still find the energy to celebrate our shared European values and to plan to keep close relationships with our European neighbours once we are no longer members of the European Union.
We have a number of experts on the subject presenting their take on our international relationships post Brexit. This will be followed by a celebration of the European influence in Bristol, with food, music and entertainment representing European culture(from Spanish flamenco to Eastern European gypsy music)
From 3-5pm we will have a discussion with:
- Nicolas Hutton, co-founder of the3million - the UK's largest grassroots organisation of EU27 citizens in the UK - will discuss the rights of EU citizens
- Nieves Perez-Solorzano Borragan is a senior lecturer at Bristol University and will discuss EU's preferences regarding its post-Brexit relations with the UK
- Eileen Means will be talking about the benefits of 'twinning', and how - post Brexit - we can stay connected with Europe
- Dr Margherita Pieraccini, associate Professor in Law at Bristol University, will talk about the EU environmental policies we will lose so we can mobilise to replace them
- Molly Scott Cato MEP will be talking about our future diplomatic relationship with the rest of the world
From 5:00-7:00pm, there will be FREE entertainment and food from various European countries and cultures. We welcome food contributions to add to our buffet of European delights.
Sarah Dickens will be delighting us with Spanish flamenco guitar
Gaia Mobilij will be invigorating us with traditional Italian accordion and Eastern European Gyspy music.
Event organised by Molly Scott Cato MEP, member of the Greens/EFA group in the European Parliament.
