Our records, your family, their story
Sun 21 May 2017, 13:00 – 15:00 BST
The Commonwealth War Graves Commission commemorates 1,700,000 men and women of the Commonwealth forces who died in the two world wars. Their names are inscribed on headstones and memorials around the world, and their details are recorded in our online register at www.cwgc.org
At this special event, to coincide with the launch of our Centenary Exhibition and our new website, we are asking members of the public to share their stories about the men and women in their family who fought in the two world wars and who now lie buried or commemorated in one of the 23,000 locations around the world where the CWGC work to preserve their memory.
Attendees can bring along treasured family records and stories about the individuals we commemorate, and share them with us. The CWGC Archive team will be on hand to scan any records and photographs which will then be added to our online register – helping to preserve those records and ensuring those stories are passed on to future generations. The CWGC – one organisation, 1.7 million stories.
