Our Stories: a women's writing workshop
Date and time
Interfaith Glasgow's Weekend Club invites you to a women-only book club and writing session for Refugee Festival Scotland!
About this event
To mark Refugee Festival Scotland 2022, Interfaith Glasgow’s Weekend Club is hosting a women-only book club and writing workshop exploring refugee women’s stories. We will be joined by writer Abigail Haworth who will facilitate the session. All women welcome - no writing experience necessary!
Before the event takes place, all those who have registered will be sent a short fictional story in the post, written by a woman from a refugee background, to read in advance. We will have a book club session together to discuss the story and sharing our own interpretations of it.
After enjoying a meal together, we'll have a go at creating our own short pieces of writing. Using prompts, Abigail will encourage us to write about a memorable morning in our lives and there will be an opportunity to share with the group.
The event will be completely free to attend and travel expenses will be provided. Activities will be available for young children. A prayer space will be available.
Flemington House is the big red sandstone building opposite the Springburn campus of Glasgow Kelvin College. Buses 88, 57 and 57a will drop you almost at the door of Flemington House and Springburn train station is a 5 minute walk. At the door, buzz 25 and we will let you in. Then take the lift or stairs to the second floor. If you can't find us or are running late, please call Rosie on 07501 814754.
