Course Content/Objectives:
Are you looking for an opportunity which makes you stand out? Looking for ways to vary your teaching practice? Are you committed to building outward-looking, engaged citizens? Look no further than SEET’s Our World Project.
The Scottish European Educational Trust (SEET) run language learning and global citizenship projects for children and young people across Scotland, and this CPL session takes a deeper look at Our World, a filmmaking project for S3-6 pupils. We ask young people to create storyboards for short multilingual films based on a set theme - this year’s theme is the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) – and send them to us. Those which we feel respond best to the theme are invited to an all-day filmmaking workshop (these take place in various locations across the country) where participants get the chance to turn their ideas into real films, with the assistance and tuition of industry professionals.
Once all the films are completed, filmmakers are invited to a Premiere / Awards Ceremony where they showcase their films in front of family, friends, and SEET staff, partners, and trustees, and receive recognition for all their hard work. The submission deadline for the storyboards is Friday December 18th, with workshops running throughout February and March, before the Premiere / Awards Ceremony takes place in late April.
This session, aimed at secondary school teachers, looks at Our World in more detail, discussing its educational benefits for young people, and its pedagogical benefits for you as teachers. It also discusses how Our World can ensure that you help young people meet their entitlement of Learning for Sustainability in an easy and engaging way.
