'Out Of Darkness Cometh Light'- An interactive lantern parade.
Sat 22 October 2016, 18:00 – 21:00 BST
‘Out Of Darkness Cometh Light’, is an interactive lantern parade that focuses on the Autumn Equinox. The lantern parade will begin at Gatis Community Space and then audience members will be guided around the Whitmore Reans Area. The work draws upon the transformation and passing of light into dark, with the use of the lanterns gradually being lit along the way to guide the audience around the trail. They will be guided around eight different spaces that hold exciting performances and tasks to incorporate an interactive audience. There is also an underlining story, this is delivered by a narrator, which explores the relationship between two characters and the playful process of them deciding to accept or deny their dark side. After the work has finished, audience members are invited back to Gatis Community Space to continue to celebrate the Autumn Equinox, to tell stories around a warm fire and to socialise with other members of the community.
As we move into the autumn season, the time of the equinox will arrive in time for reason. Where both day and night are an equal amount, will you make that decision and make it count?
This project is a collaboration between Gatis Community Space and Flexus Dance Collective to bring both the community and the arts together.
This project is supported by an Open Access Award from Creative Black Country as part of the Creative People and Places scheme.
