In 79 AD, torrid volcanic ash and pumice raced down the slopes of Mount Vesuvius and smothered Pompeii to death. Since excavations began in the mid-18th century, the city has yielded a bounty of cultural treasures and insight into the life of the ancient world.

Vivianne will present images from her visits to the region and tell stories of this ancient civilisation, join her and be transported back, all from the comfort of your own home!

About Vivianne

Vivianne studied at Manchester and Liverpool University as well as open learning at Oxford University and Penn University in America where she obtained diplomas in Ancient History of Civilizations.

Vivianne has worked in the Petrie Museum at the UCLA in London and at the Egyptian Museum in Cairo on a special project working alongside world-renowned archaeologist Dr Zawi Hawass.

When at home, she runs an Egyptology group for her u3a and gives regular talks to various associations and schools. She is a member of ARCE and The Horus Society.

For the last ten years, she has worked on cruise ships all around the world, presenting talks on the history of the ship’s itinerary.
