Description

Overview

How do we live out the message of Jesus in today’s ever-changing culture? This is the essence of John’s teaching to pastors and leaders around the world. His passion is to equip the Body of Christ to raise churches up out of the culture.

Conference
9.30-10.30am | SESSION 1 | No Perfect People Allowed

Most churches want to reach those far from God, yet most do not. One of the most overlooked reasons is the culture of the church. Culture is unseen and difficult to assess, yet the most powerful shaping influence you have as a church. How do we create a “Come as you are” culture so that people experience the grace of God first? This seminar will help you see how to create a culture in your church that reaches the culture around your church.

11.00am-12.00pm | SESSION 2 | Soul Revolution

How do messy, broken people truly change and grow? If we say “come as you are” how can we help people not stay that way, but grow to become all God intended? Through real-life stories of people from every imaginable past, healing and growing them from lost to leading others, John shows the power of helping people do what Jesus said during his last night on earth. You’ll come away with a very practical, 60-day experiment to help people start down the path to life-change and growth.

1.00-2.00pm | SESSION 3 | Unshockable Love: On mission with Jesus

The sad truth is that, left to itself, the church will turn inward. How do we lead people outward to be on mission with Jesus and each other? John tells hope-filled stories with practical suggestions of how ordinary people can have a tremendous impact on their neighbours and co-workers if we lead them to first have the attitude of Jesus, then organise to go on mission together as Jesus modeled.

2.30-3.30pm | SESSION 4 | Imagine Heaven

So many Christians will sacrifice, save, and labour for retirement; yet they won’t do the same for Heaven because they can’t imagine it. Yet Colossians 3:1 commands us to Imagine Heaven. After decades of researching near-death experiences, where people clinically die, yet are resuscitated to speak of the life to come, John shows how the commonalities people report around the globe line up with the Bible’s teaching of the afterlife (Heaven and hell). This seminar will remind church leaders that it’s really worth it to serve and sacrifice and live for eternity, while giving practical ideas of how to reach a culture curious about near death experiences.

Endorsements for John Burke

The day started well and just got better! John Burke articulated many things that I've been thinking about for some time. He presented some simple yet profound principles that serve well any church seeking to build believers and reach those who are far from God.

No Perfect People Allowed Seminar with John Burke 2010

As a church leader I love opportunities to be challenged and to reflect on priorities & vision ... time to hear from God. John Burke's teaching was thought provoking and inspiring. I came away recharged.
Gordon Tuck, Senior Pastor, Testwood Baptist Church
No Perfect People Allowed Seminar with John Burke 2010

John Burke was able to do something remarkable on this conference - he was able to take concepts and ideas that are clearly being used by God at his church and apply them to a different culture and context. He clearly understood what is happening in the UK and his teaching was insightful and applicable. Thanks for a great day.
Chris Porter, Easthampstead Baptist Church
No Perfect People Allowed Seminar with John Burke 2010

We had a great time. Once again John delivered the goods. Can't wait to get the new book to build on this day and really get to grips with his thinking.
Tony Berry, St James' Abinger, A Leaders Gathering with John Burke 2014

This was an outstanding event with an outstanding speaker. John is a tremendously skilled communicator with the right balance of information, anecdote and practical help. Naturally all that he shares is grounded in scripture and so much focuses on 'how would Jesus tackle this situation'. Thank you - I would definitely recommend John Burke (and his books) and would love to attend any future events in which John is speaking.
Ros Morgan, Jubilee Church, Shepperton, A Leaders Gathering with John Burke 2014

This WCA conference was once again of outstanding value and relevance. John Burke established principles, some of which we already engage with, which help us to look beyond the invitational model and explore the relational model of being and doing church. He called us to see the masterpiece that every human being is created to be, the masterpiece so often masked by the mud and murk of our broken everyday lives...
Brook MacCallum, Blandford Evangelical Church, A Leaders Gathering with John Burke 2014
