Who Should Attend?

Anyone wishing to become a first aider involved activities such as outdoor pursuits, outdoor education, teachers and early years educators. It is also appropriate for those working in industry, particularly if working in remote situations.

The course also meets all requirements of NGB awards and First Aid At Work (over 16hrs contact).


Outdoor First Aid Course Syllabus

  • The Outdoors Emergency First Aid course covers-
  • Understand the role and responsibilities of the first aider
  • Recording and reporting of accidents and incidents including RIDDOR
  • Discussion of specific outdoor related injuries Contents of a first aid kit (including preventing cross infection)
  • Emergency equipment for use outdoors Assessing the situation and acting safely, effectively and promptly in an emergency
  • Emergency assistance and evacuation techniques outdoors
  • Outdoor scenario training

Assessment and Qualifications

Following final assessment, successful learners will receive an Outdoors Emergency First Aid Certificate as well as an approved Emergency First Aid at Work Certificate from an awarding body (FAIB, SQA, or ITC) which is valid for three years.


Other Relevant Information

Learners must be physically able to carry out procedures required to meet awarding bodies (FAIB, SQA, or ITC) assessment criteria.

Learners must be physically able to carry out first aid training/scenarios outdoors. This course satisfies the requirements of relevant outdoors qualifications National Governing Bodies such as MLTS and BCU and fully covers the HSE Emergency First Aid at Work syllabus .

Please bring your own lunch or use the cafe on site, refreshments provided.

Revalidation of Outdoor First Aid

Learners are required to attend a two day requalification course after the three year period to keep the qualification valid.

It is strongly recommended learners update their skills by attending a 3 hour annual refresher course.
