About this Event

Outdoors Street Photography Workshop with Eva Kalpadaki

Duration 6 hours

Small group of only 5 participants.

Venue: Outdoors (further details will be emailed- In case of bad weather, the workshop will be rescheduled.)


This workshop aims at introducing you to the fundamental principles of Street Photography.

You will explore tips and techniques from famous photographers and immerse yourselves in the moment and the joyful surprises of street photography. With fun exercises you will be guided step by step in how to develop a mindful and creative way of seeing and capturing life in the streets through your lens.

 At the end of the workshop you will be able to:

 - demonstrate a critical understanding of the basic principles of street photography by identifying

and discussing different aspects and elements of a street photograph


- identify and discuss the work of some important street photographers


- demonstrate a practical engagement with street photography by taking your own photographs


- critically reflect on the making of your own images and discuss how you mindfully and creatively

see and think about the world in the streets



General Workshop Outline

10:30- 11:20 am 


Brain Storming on the concept Street Photography.

Beginning of theory session – explaining and discussing the various workshop themes focusing on the principles of street photography with student contributions and questions.


11:20 am Tea & Biscuits Break (biscuits are provided-bring your own drink)


11:30 - 12:30 pm

Continuation of theory session - explaining the workshop themes

By looking at and discussing the works of famous classic and contemporary photographers this session will provide you with an understanding of how street photography developed based on the new way of looking and method of working of each one of them. You will be engaging in a critical discussion about their photographs and reflecting on questions about what compositional approach it has been used, what the intentions of the photographer might be, what the images mean to you based on your own interpretation and any other questions that might be generated by you. 


12:30 - 1:00 pm Lunch Break 


1:00 - 3:15 pm

Play Time - theory into practice

Engaging in playful and mindful activities as a practical brainstorming on the main issues raised from the first part of the workshop, you will be taking photographs outside of the venue implementing theory into practice.  You can work on specific tasks I will be giving you or you can choose to shoot freely. I will be guiding you when needed and giving you practical tips on how to achieve your desired results by controlling your camera on manual or semi-automatic mode.


3:15 - 3:30 pm Tea & Biscuits (biscuits are provided-bring your own drink)


3:30 – 4:20 pm

Feedback Time

Looking at each other’s photographs, commenting on them in a non-judgemental environment, suggesting new ideas, reflecting on your creative process of ‘seeing mindfully’ the world in the streets and articulating it into your own words.


4:20- 4:30 pm

Summing up on the workshop themes, leaving your workshop feedback and suggesting ideas for further workshops based on your needs.



After the end of the workshop I will be sending you e-handouts by email

Camera guidelines

A DSLR camera is ideally the best type of camera you can have if you want to really explore and experiment with photography. However, all camera devices are welcome, including smartphones or tablets and you will still benefit from the workshop
