Event description

Description

The landscape of the world and locations we live in or know well have a strong influence on our feelings and ideas. We shall look at ways in which we connect ourselves with the outer world as a way into exploring and writing about our inner worlds. There will be time to start developing a poem and optional sharing of work.

The event will be followed by tea and readings from participants (please bring one short poem to share) as well as a reading by Myra Schneider.

2pm to 4pm: Workshop

4pm to 4:30pm: Tea

4:30pm to 5pm: Readings

Myra Schneider’s most recent collections are What Women Want (Second Light Publications 2012), The Door to Colour (Enitharmon 2014) and Persephone in Finsbury Park (Second Light Publications 2016). Other publications include fiction for young people and books about personal writing – in particular Writing My Way Through Cancer, a fleshed-out journal with poems (Jessica Kingsley 2003) and the resource book Writing Your Self with John Killick (Continuum 2009). She is a tutor for The Poetry School in London and consultant to the Second Light Network for women poets. She has co-edited anthologies of work by contemporary women poets and was shortlisted for a Forward prize in 2007: www.esch.dircon.uk
