Event description

Edinburgh Tour Guides and The Edinburgh Sketcher are delighted to offer a unique insight into some of the locations from the Outlander books, and those used as film locations, along the Royal Mile.

Don’t just see the locations, draw them. This is completely suitable for those who have some and even for those who have NO drawing skills. Take some time out of your hectic tour schedule, turn off the phone and really immerse yourself in a few key locations, recording the shapes and nuances of the buildings, just as travellers would have done in times gone past.

Mark, the Edinburgh Sketcher will guide you in sketching techniques, and you will have your very own piece of art to take home at the end of the tour.

In conjunction with Edinburgh Tour Guides, we will bring you the real history of the locations, and of course, share our experience of how it all intermingles with the actual places featured in the Outlander books, and those used as locations for fictional sites.

The tour will take advantage of the long summer evenings and will take approximately 2hrs followed by tea and coffee as we finish our sketches.

We will meet at 6.10pm outside the Serenity Cafe on Jacksons Entry, We will visit Bakehouse Close, The World’s End Pub and Holyrood Palace before returning to the cafe for refreshments.

Featured Locations

Canongate Kirk – Where Colum meets with Claire and Jamie to discuss Bonnie Prince Charlie in private and he also reminisces about Ellen Jamie’s mother.

Whitehorse Inn – The final stop of Claire’s journey from Inverness to Edinburgh to find Jamie.

Bakehouse Close – Filming location in Season 3
