Description

Welcome to International Student Tours (Non-Students also welcome to join)

About the Locations:
Join us on a magical journey and be an Outlander! Craigh na Dun or Castle Leoch may have been a figment of Outlander author Diana Gabaldon's imagination but this fascinating world of standing stones, romantic castles and sweeping scenery was inspired by real places and heritage.

-- Done Castle:
The journey in Outlander Tour will begin by visiting the incredible and romanic Doune Castle. The stunning Doune Castle plays a leading role in Outlander substituting for the fictional Castle Leoch – home to Colum MacKenzie and his clan in the 18th century episodes. It also features in the 20th century episode where Claire and Frank visit the castle in ruins on a day trip. This impressive architecture has made it popular with other production companies as it was 'Swamp Castle', 'Castle Anthrax' and 'Camelot' in 'Monty Python and the Holy Grail' and more recently a location for 'Game of Thrones' standing as Winterfell . You can follow in the footsteps of Claire and Frank’s visit to the ruins and learn more about its true history and see how grand banquets would have once been prepared in the kitchen as well as admiring its 100 ft high gatehouse and stunningly preserved great hall. We will also take a lovely walk from Doune Castle to the River Teith to enjoy the breathtaking sceneries filmed in Outlander and Game of Thrones.

-- Linlithgow Palace, Linlithgow Loch and Gardens:
As the highlight of our Outlander Torus, the majestic ruins of Linlithgow Palace was once the royal residence of the Stewart kings and queens and the birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots. In Episode 15 of Outlander, Linlithgow Palace stands in for the prison entrance and corridors in the scene where Jamie is imprisoned. This wonderful 15th century ruin still brings a sense of awe when entering through its gates into its elegant cobbled courtyard. Overlooking the tranquil beauty of the Linlithgow Loch, this superb Renaissance residence allows a unique insight into the domestic life of Scottish royalty. You will have plenty of time to enjoy visiting Linlithgow Palace, the stunning St Michael Parish Church, the lovely beautiful walk on its gardens and picturesque Linlithgow Loch as well as visiting the cute and charming town of Linlithgow.

-- Blackness Castle:
You can't forget the scene where poor Jamie was tortured by Balk Jack Randall! As one of the main locations for Outlander, the impressive 15th century Blackness Castle stands looking out over the Firth of Forth and it provides the setting for the Fort William headquarters of Black Jack Randall as well as featuring in the heart-wrenching scene of Jamie's incarceration in Outlander. The castle was built by one of the most powerful families in Scotland, the Crichtons, and is often referred to as 'the ship that never sailed' due to its ship-like shape. Here we will see the castle and its grounds with some gorgeous views of Firth of Forth.

Outlander Tours is an incredible experience and you will be amazed and impressed by the places you will visit with plenty of time to enjoy your day as an Outlander!
