This training aims to help outreach workers deliver effective support interventions and achieve positive outcomes for people sleeping rough.
Developed by Homeless Link with contributions from member organisations and people with lived experience of street outreach.
Who is this course for?
This training is suitable for anyone looking to deliver effective support interventions and achieve positive outcomes for people sleeping rough.
What will you learn?
Through this course, you will:
- Develop the skills to effectively plan and carry out outreach shifts, including safety and risk assessments and welfare checks.
- Gain understanding of assertive and person-centered support approaches
- Identify common routes onto the streets and understand the common support needs of people experiencing rough sleeping
- Understand how to recognise and respond to the unique needs of each person encountered during outreach
- Understand a range of support offers to end rough sleeping.
Duration
9.30am-4.00pm
Sessions are not recorded. Slides will be sent electronically.

Bookings for larger groups
This course is also available to be booked for staff teams of up to 20 people, to be delivered online "in-house" in live interactive sessions on dates to suit your organisation. This course can booked to be delivered in-person (subject to government advice).
