Education Showcase Event

Outreach Education Syndicates (Creative Court UK)

Tuesday 22nd May 2018 – 6.00pm-8.00pm

National Justice Museum, High Pavement, Nottingham, NG1 1HN

We invite you to join us at the National Justice Museum for this Education Showcase event celebrating the completion of the Creative Court UK project. This project is the most recent Outreach Education Syndicates project to be developed thanks to funding from the Museum Resilience Fund from Art Council England (ACE).

Outreach Education Syndicates’ (OES) is a model of best practice, that was developed by the National Justice Museum, for widening access to careers in the heritage sector and supporting the adaptive resilience of the Museum as it builds capacity to deliver outreach sessions. This model has been used to develop ‘Creative Court UK’, which offers education outreach provision to young people helping them to engage with key topics relating to the law and democracy using an artist-designed ‘pop-up courtroom’.

The Education Showcase will discuss the work conducted by three teams of volunteer Associates based at our learning sites in Nottingham, London and the North West between January 2017 and March 2018 and will examine the impact of delivering Public Legal Education in schools. The project was designed to develop the skills of adult participants from diverse backgrounds to become Education Associates, working to deliver high-quality learning sessions in schools across the UK.

Guests at the Education Showcase will see the resources developed for Creative Court UK project and will also have the opportunity to visit the Museum’s ‘Right to Vote’ exhibition. They will hear about the work that the Museum is planning over the coming months and the importance of funded projects to the wider organisation.

Please join us for drinks and canapes from 6.00pm.

For more information about this event or to RSVP please contact the Project Manager Dr. Rebekah Wood by Friday 18th May 2018:

Speakers at the event include:

Victoria Reeves – Chief Executive Officer at the National Justice Museum

Victoria will discuss the recent changes to the branding and reach of the museum and will talk about the anticipated developments that will take place over the next few months as the National Justice Museum expands its Arts and Heritage engagement as one of Art Council England’s National Portfolio Organisations. She will also discuss the importance of funded projects such as Creative Court UK to the wider organisation.

Dr Rebekah Wood - Outreach Education Project Manager at the National Justice Museum

Rebekah will discuss the conceptual development of the ‘pop-up courtroom’ for this Outreach Education Syndicates project. This will include an overview of the development work exploring the creative uses of gameplay as a tool for engaging young people in Public Legal Education. Rebekah will talk about the implementation of ‘Creative Court UK’. The project was designed to feed into the Arts Council’s ‘Creative Case’ for Diversity by enabling people from diverse backgrounds to work alongside artists and heritage professionals to develop an interactive learning programme that engages young people with key topics relating to justice and the law.

Volunteer Education Associates

Associates that have taken part in the Development and Delivery Phases of the Creative Court UK project will discuss their involvement and the skills they’ve learned as a result of taking part.
