Join us in Sandyford 417 at Northumbria University Newcastle for this NBC-funded event focusing on the creation of podcasts in Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences! Whether you're a seasoned podcaster or just dipping your toes in the world of audio storytelling, this workshop is for you. Learn how to create compelling content, engage with your audience, and make your voice heard in the digital sphere. This workshop will run as a hybrid session. Iain Wheelan, Newcastle University and Cultural Peeps Podcast

Iain Wheeldon is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Arts and Cultures at Newcastle University and founder/ host of the Cultural Peeps Podcast. Iain currently teaches on Postgraduate Programmes in Museum Studies, Curating Art & Global Heritage Management.The Cultural Peeps Podcast series is part of an ongoing series which explores the career paths of different professionals working within the Cultural Sector. It aims to help early career professionals to understand different jobs families, interpret job titles and show that career decisions are often both complex and personal.The Cultural Peeps Podcast can be accessed through most major podcasting apps, Spotify, Soundcloud & Apple.


Richard Berry, Senior Lecturer in Radio at University of Sunderland

Dr Richard Berry is a noted academic in podcast studies, having written some of the pioneering work on the subject. He is a Senior Lecturer in Radio and Podcasting at the University of Sunderland, where he teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses in podcast studies, radio and podcast production, and radio broadcasting. His articles on podcasting are amongst the earliest and most influential in the field, and he has sought to define podcasting as a distinct medium. He is one of the co-editors of the book Podcasting - New Aural Cultures & Digital Media, published in 2018, and is also co-chair of the PodAcademics research network. He has also published work on the use of the Internet and digital technologies in the UK radio industry. He is also the station manager of the University’s award-winning radio station, Spark. Most recently, he completed a PhD through previously published work.


Media Players International

Lily Poberezska is a London-based graduate of Kiev State University. Lily began working as an adult education teacher in Ukraine, and on coming to the UK worked at the BBC for 9 years. Lily was a reporter/presenter, senior producer, media consultant and trainer on a variety of TV and radio projects, from agriculture and environment to small business and civil society.

​Tim Grout-Smith is an Oxford English graduate with 26 years of varied BBC experience. Tim reported from more than 30 countries, edited and presented flagship news programmes for BBC World Service and made TV and radio documentaries and educational series.
