Description

Outside In

Transforming Hate in Youth Settings

Free Interactive Dissemination Event

Since 2017 Interfaith Scotland has been working with partners across Europe on a project to improve the ability of youth workers to transform hate speech in settings with young people. The OutsideIn project is now in its final stages, and this event aims to disseminate the learning from the project and inform other youth practitioners of three key outputs:

  • The 'Transforming Hate' Practice Manual
  • An online platform for youth workers across Europe to discuss their experiences of transforming hate speech
  • A pool of experienced trainers in Scotland (and across Europe)

Those involved in working with young people are invited to join us for an afternoon of interactive learning about how we can better respond when a young person uses islamophobic, racist or other prejudicial language in a youth setting.

The event will include the following elements:

  • A free copy of the 'Transforming Hate' Practice Manual - a guide for those working with young people on how to transform hate speech and the related behaviours
  • Presentations on the OutsideIn project and its outcomes
  • A chance to network with others working to transform hate
  • An opportunity to meet the pool of trainers in Scotland
  • A light vegetarian lunch

We look forward to seeing you on the day. If you have any access needs, or have any questions about the event, please email Maureen@interfaithscotland.org or call 0141 558 0778.
