Description

The School of Social Sciences would like to invite its PGR students to think beyond the academic application of their work and to consider how their research might apply in a non-academic context. PGR students will be able to present a summary of their research as outlined below, and hear how engagement with the non-HEI sector has been taking place from some of the PGR students who have recently taken research placements in non-HEI organisations

The event will run as follows:

2.00 - 2.10 Introduction and overview by Stuart Shields (PGR Director)

2.10 - 3.00 PGR students to showcase their research in "pecha kucha" style (no more than 20 slides, 20 seconds each)

3.00 - 3.15 Jackie Carter (SoSS Employability Lead) to give an overview of working with the public and private sector - benefits and challenges

3.15 - 3.30 Coffee break

3.30 - 4.15 Louise Davies (PGR Placements and Partnerships Officer) to talk about partnerships and placements and how they work in practice

4.15 - 4.30 Q&A and next steps
