Event description

Description

Outside The Box is now hosting an eight week programme of artmaking and enquiry for children 7+. All welcome!

This is part of The Children's University and on the University campus (Rolle artrooms), two Friday mornings a month until the summer holidays.

The programme is designed to look at different approaches to drawing and making, whilst exploring the work of artists and producing our own quality art pieces for various purposes. We shall keep our body of work in folders and build a digital portfolio for your own use. You can take work home and store work in progress in the artrooms.

I am an experienced primary classroom teacher, artist and lecturer of art and education. I look to meet pupil learning needs within a nuturing studio approach. We can work with mixed ages and have space to spread out and work individually, or in small groups.

The whole programme flows in sequence but sessions can be attended as one off, stand alone events. Each session is designed to explore, practice, make and complete pieces in a range of disciplines, and complete a quality end piece. There is no need for experience or to be particularly 'arty' - just an interest in learning and a willingness to get stuck in and make! AND if you are experienced and arty then we can develop your talents.

All sessions will warm up with drawing exercises; exploring different mark making, materials and techniques to devlop the skills of observation and drawing.

Session1: 5th April - An introduction to drawing and sketchbooking (with a twist)

Session2: 26th April - An exploration into collage and mark making

Session3: 10th May - An exploration into printmaking techniques

Session4: 24th May - An exploration into ceramics and handbuilding

Session5: 7th June - An intoduction to sculptural techniques and materials

Session6: 21st June - An exploratrion into LARGE SCALE sculpture and artists

Session7: 5th July - A collaborative large scale ceramic sculpture for 'Illuminate' - Light Festival- 2019

Session8: 19th July - A sharing celebration of our term's work. Planning ideas for the next term (still making and drawing to be had....)

£10 per session per person

Once booked we will have an email or telephone conversation about your children and their experience/ learning or anything you would like us to know, so we can work together and draw out the best possible experience for them.

I am a fully qualified teacher with up to date DBS, safeguarding and insurance certifciates.
