About the event

Join top industry experts, both in-house and freelance, discuss how to manage the in-house/freelance working relationship.

Each speaker will share how they:
  • Communicate effectively
  • Maintain quality
  • Work to budget

Astrid deRidder has worked in publishing for more than a decade, working her way up from a Production Editor at Random House to her current role as Head of Business Development within the Education Reform division at Cambridge University Press. With a career that has spanned the Atlantic Ocean as well as trade and educational publishing, Astrid brings a unique customer (and commercial-centric) focus to the world of publishing.

Anna Faherty spent 15 years working in-house in editorial positions before setting up her own business providing services to publishers, museums and learning institutions. Her online learning course on remote working is
used by professionals in many fields and she has also taught project management – including how to write briefs for freelancers – to MA publishing students.

Kathryn Munt is Business and Publishing Lead for ELT and Schools with Integra, a Digital and Content Services company working with Educational Institutions and Publishers worldwide. Previously Kathryn worked with Pearson, Cambridge University Press, Marshall Cavendish, and the International Baccalaureate. Today my work very much focuses on partnering with Publishers and Educational Institutions so that outsourcing is strategic and delivers value every time.

This event has been organised with Just Content and Redwoods Publishing Recruitment. They will both be sponsoring drinks after the talks.

This is the first BookMachine event to take place at our new home - The Library - an exclusive members club in a five storey town house in the heart of Covent Garden, only a short walk from both Leicester Square and Trafalgar Square. The walls are adorned with bookcases and books - a perfect spot for publishing professionals to meet!
