Description

Outstanding Teaching – a way of working not a destination

Participants will look at ways of motivating and engaging pupils and explore ways of doing this in the core subjects. Through activities and discussion they will explore key features of outstanding and highly effective lessons. Key concepts of ‘FLOW’ and intrinsic motivation will be looked at and participants will reflect on how their current practice and aspects of this that will be adapted and developed in the future.

Aims

  • Motivating and engaging pupils in particularly in literacy and Numeracy
  • Reflecting on own teaching practices
  • Reflecting on key features of ‘outstanding’ or highly effective lessons
  • Mind map a series of considerations for teaching and planning learning experiences building on these ‘outstanding characteristics’
  • Understand the concept of ‘FLOW’ and explore how this can be developed in lessons
  • Explore how Personal Learning and Thinking skills can be developed across the curriculum and in lessons
  • Understand how to develop pupils’ intrinsic motivation
  • Auditing the quality of your own teaching and Learning
  • Have identified aspects of future practice that will be modified
