About this event
Join us to grow your own...Derek Jarman’s garden (Interactive workshop for LGBT over 50s).
Learn how to sow, grow and maintain some of the very plants that the LGBTQ+ artist, activist and filmmaker Derek Jarman cultivated at his iconic Prospect Cottage garden in Dungeness.
From yellow-horned poppies to wild carrots, our growing workshop with an RHS Bridgewater facilitator will tell you how to bring a little bit of Dungeness to your Manchester garden or home.
This workshop will take place at Derek Jarman Pocket Park located at the front of Manchester Art Gallery.
You will be provided with all the equipment and tools needed to sow and grow your seeds. We welcome anybody who wishes to bring their own tools and gloves to the workshop. Along with encouraging participants to bring any recycled objects that they can use as plant pots e.g old yogurt pots, jar, juice cartons, used tins, water bottles. Be as creative and sustainable as you like.
This workshop is for LGBTQ+ people over 50.
Green With Pride is a joint project between LGBT Foundation and Hubbub UK, generously funded by the Together With Our Planet fund from National Lottery Community Fund.
