Over and Above 180ft Abseil April 2017
Sun 9 April 2017, 09:00 – 15:00 BST
BERRY BEAST - ARE YOU UP FOR OUR CHALLENGE?
Raise money for the hospital charity by abseiling off the dramatic cliff face at Berry, near Hartland. It is an amazing location with stunning views across the North Atlantic sea. There is also a beautiful sandy beach with rockpools for you and your family and friends to explore when the tide is out after you have finished your abseil.
BOOKING IS ESSENTIAL AS THIS EVENT WILL FILL UP FAST. Book a time slot that suits you, and experience an exhilarating abseil from one of North Devon’s best abseil locations.
You will be provided with training on the day by a qualified instructor from Skern Lodge Adventure Centre.
Your £20 entry fee helps cover the cost of staging the event and is non-refundable. This will ensure that the sponsor money you raise will support the hospital charity. We ask that you try to raise a minimum of £100 which will go towards our latest hospital charity £1m Appeal for a new Cancer Support Centre and Relatives and Patient overnight accommodation wing. However, you may also specify your sponsorship to be put towards one of our other wards or hospital services supported by Over and Above - just contact a member of the fundraising team at firstname.lastname@example.org for details.
A sponsorship form is available on http://overandabove.org.uk/get-involved/sponsorship/ or contact the Fundraising Team at email@example.com. You may also want to set up a Just Giving page on https://www.justgiving.com/OverandAbove/.
Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?
Minimum age for the event is 12 years.
What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?
Follow our instructions to Berry as follows. For sat nav purposes use postcode EX39 6DA, which will direct you to Markadon Cottages in Hartland. Once there, follow the lane to the end (which becomes a dirt track), where you will find the parking area. The hospital charity will endeavour to put up signs on the route. You can park your car at the side of the road. Please note parking is at your own risk. There is a 5 minute walk from the car park to the abseil location.
What can I bring into the event?
Wear sensible clothing such as comfortable trousers and long sleeved top and sturdy footwear. Please bring suncream or warm clothing, dependant on the weather. You may also want to bring a drink and a snack.
What facilities are available on site?
There are no toilets or shop/cafe on site to purchase snacks. The event is in a rural location, popular for its unspoilt beautiful and dramatic coastline. You may wish to bring a snack and drink with you. The nearest toilet is a 1 mile walk to Hartland Quay.
