Description

Over Here Theatre Company cordially invites you to a fundraiser on Saturday, 10 June from 7.30pm to 11pm at Emmanuel Church, Lyncroft Gardens, West Hampstead , London NW6 1JU

All proceeds of this exciting event will go towards productions of James Anthony Tyler’s new play Dolphins and Sharks at The Finborough Theatre in September 2017 and The Beautiful Dark by Erik Gernand in 2018.

Entertainment includes comedy, music and short scenes from each play. Confirmed acts include stand-up comedian Abigail Burdess, cabaret singer Pippa Winslow, Bette Midler tribute Divinely Bette by Kim Sheard, pianist Stefan Menaul ,singer/songwriter Sabrina Parker and comedian Dan March as MC . You will be greeted with a glass of bubbly and offered an array of light food during the event. A cash bar will also be available.

Dolphins and Sharks is a comedy about office politics set in a copy shop in Harlem. When Xiomara is promoted to manager, tensions and resentments rise with her co-workers Isabel, Yusuf and Danilo, as they turn on each other over accusations of stealing. This play has just enjoyed a successful run at the LAByrinth Theater in New York. “James Anthony Tyler's smart new play, Dolphins and Sharks… stages this tragic dynamic in microcosm: a Harlem copy shop becomes the crucible for surging tensions over race, class, and economic opportunity, offering humane insight into historical forces of vast proportions.” The Village Voice, 1 March, 2017

The Beautiful Dark by Erik Gernand is a thriller about a mother who must confront her darkest fears when she suspects that her teenage son may be planning an act of violence. It premiered at Redtwist Theatre in Chicago in July 2013, moved to a subsequent production that fall at Premiere Stages in Union, NJ, and had its New York Premiere with The Barrow Group in 2014. "Affecting, thought-provoking...Mr. Gernand has created complicated, recognizable people who are, like most of us, victims of their own flaws...a tribute to Mr. Gernand’s gracefully expository script, awash with resonant dialogue." --The New York Times, September 15, 2013
