Owning Our Narrative: The Art of Women’s Resilience (Workshop & Discussion)

By Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea Libraries

Overview

Marking the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women through creativity, reflection and dialogue.

Every woman carries a story - one of resilience, courage, and transformation - yet too often these stories go unheard. In recognition of the upcoming International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women (25 November), join us for an afternoon of storytelling, creativity and community as we honour women’s voices and celebrate their strength.

Owning Our Narrative is a reflective and empowering afternoon designed to create space for creativity, connection and growth.

Part 1 — 1pm to 3pm
We begin with a Tree of Life workshop, a creative and reflective exercise that helps participants explore their roots, values, skills, relationships and dreams. No artistic experience is needed - this is about discovery, self-expression, and honouring your personal narrative in a safe, welcoming space.

Break
Light refreshments will be provided.

Part 2 — 3.30pm to 4.30pm
The afternoon continues with a Panel on Women’s Resilience, featuring inspiring speakers including Dr. Aicha Sonni, coach and researcher in education, and Dr. Amina Abdat, entrepreneur, founder of The Round Table and also researcher in education. Together, they will share insights and strategies for navigating life’s challenges, fostering growth and sustaining resilience. Participants will be invited to engage in an open and supportive discussion.

You are welcome to join us for the full afternoon or for either session.
