Event description
Join us for the launch of OxCAN Connect! A new interactive monthly series from the OxCAN Team

About this event

OxCAN Connect is about creating a space for Oxford alumni to come together, share and meet other climate conscious alumni.

Join us on November 3 2020 6pm GMT for the launch of this series!

The hour will consist of short talks from 4 speakers, including climate updates from Oxford and talks from Alumni. These talks will be interspersed with roundtable discussions — take a seat and join a table to talk and meet with your fellow alumni.

This event will be held on Airmeet — a more interactive zoom-like platform that will allow alumni to better meet and talk with other audience members, speakers and the OxCAN team.

An email will be sent out to you 24 hours before the event begins containing the link and instructions. For more details about OxCAN Connect and Airmeet, please click here.

Speakers:

Alan Keeso ('2013) is a strategy consultant for small and medium-sized businesses and was a Conservative candidate in Canada's last federal election. He served in the Canadian Armed Forces reserves and has an MBA and an MSc in the environmental sciences from Oxford University. He will be discussing how governments should approach achieving net-zero emissions, specifically referring to Justin Trudeau's green economy recovery plan.

Chris Tchen ('1982) is Chairman of Carbon Limiting Technologies, which has delivered incubation services to small entrepreneurial technology businesses since 2006, and a non-exec of the Clean Growth Fund (a new £40m venture capital fund). He combines this with more general consulting on growth and corporate strategy. He will be discussing the challenges of bringing new clean technologies to market at scale.

Felix Heilmann ('2016) is a Researcher at the climate politics think tank E3G. He studied Philosophy, Politics and Economics at Balliol College from 2016 to 2019, and was President of the Oxford Climate Society from 2018 to 2019. His talk is called Climate action: from passion to profession. It asks what's it like to transition from climate action being a personal passion to it becoming a paid profession (while of course remaining passionate about it)? Felix will share his thoughts on the challenges and opportunities this transition presents, having just made it himself. He’s looking forward to an exchange on this issue with other alumni, no matter if or how long ago they made this transition.
